Meeting for EOY plans

End of Year statement

Poem:

(In progress to be inspired to write)

Meanings

Land gets broken up for new housing, earth is up turned and shifted around changing the landscape over the years. Barriers slice through the land, pavements snake alongside these rails, painted in a dark green to blend the metal into the green of the landscape, once again slicing it into sections.
I remove objects from their original meanings and re-purpose and re-think how they are perceived whilst still maintaining original functionality

Colour plays a large role in conservations, through markers to stand out and apparatus and objects to help blend into surroundings.

Materials reflect both housing development and path construction along the river.

landscape usage / rights through the history of Aotearoa and approaching whenua as Tau Iwi to Aotearoa. How people should / could respectfully approach ‘nature’ and who stewards land / conservation and what that kind of means / flux of landscape

Drawings and plans. Floor plans.

Concrete corner filled, I am planning on adding solid colour to reference ground or foliage. I am also planning to making a couple more of similar size and ideas.

I am planning on creating these paintings, one small, two medium. I am planning on painting with colour conscious to conservation to also highlight the other objects and works in show but also hint toward the more fleshed out works I have done but am hoping to re think them a bit and make them a bit of an in-between of abstraction and those typical paintings.

Sculptural ideas include repurposing this old crate box which held soil samples from landscape and other mineral substances to be tested, often from farms that are around the Waikato region to test soil quality and chemical and nitrate run off into the river from farming. I hope to have a more structural object in the space which will need to be discussed depending on exhibition location.

More or less what the triangles will look like, hoping for them to be successful and work to play in the ways I hope they will, creating an almost disconnect from the purpose of the object but also bring the viewer in if they can pin point what they are. I like the subtle hints of what the object is with out dominating but being highlighted through colour.
