Developments & Infrastructure (digital renderings)

The proposed Ferrybank area in Hamilton is one plan that’s failed to fire. https://www.stuff.co.nz/waikato-times/news/111755922/200k-builds-river-plan-towards-funding-year

Inserted images of people, there is a surreal aspect to ‘development’ plans, the attempts to recreate something that is living and alive is a small idea which I have enjoyed playing with and attempting to add myself into paintings, these figures feel present but also very distant to the landscape, some figures are see through blending into the back ground and landscape which they are interacting with. The lighting of figures seems disrupting, shadows aren’t always agreeing with the light reflecting off of people. I enjoy the way the edited parts over lap, and there is this play of layering and including new sections and foliage / plants, a clear blocking off is going on with how the images are set up.

The new surrealism of landscape through the digital rendering.

These artist renditions are a mixture of the real and fake often at times, trees in the back real but over lapped with images and drawings of people. colours and lighting sometimes appear artificial.

The Tamahere Recreation Reserve’s piazza area concept plan. https://www.stuff.co.nz/waikato-times/news/hamilton-press/102806898/ground-works-begin-on-tamahere-village-hub

When searching ‘Tamahere’ suggestions of housing comes up, Tamahere is one of the areas in or surrounding Hamilton that is rapidly growing, selling housing and building infrastructure.

It is always surreal seeing all these housing developments implemented on the land, shifting land, but also financially creating this issue seen in the new and everywhere, housing prices seem to be unobtainable, there is a real housing crisis yet every day there are plans to build more and build faster.

Because when these developments go up building ‘nice’ and ‘rich’ houses selling for millions, its a slap in the face to those living in poverty, houses are being built on stolen land, destroyed for profit to help the few.
